History and foreign studies will become compulsory school exams
The Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis the project of the law, which provides for the state final certification for students of the 9th and 11th grades in 4 compulsory subjects.
This was announced by its chairman, Serhiy Babak, based on the results of consideration of the draft law in the education committee.
The draft law provides that starting in 2024, the DPA of basic and high school graduates will be conducted in 4 compulsory subjects – Ukrainian language, mathematics, history of Ukraine and a foreign language (except Russian).
At the same time, students of 4th grade will also take DPA, but the number of compulsory subjects will be smaller.
“This applies to graduates of the 9th and 11th grades from the next school year. For primary school, the DPA will be based on a smaller number of subjects,” said the head of the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
The authors of the draft law emphasize that the adoption of the draft law should allow to improve the quality of students’ learning results in the history of Ukraine and a foreign language.
